Sharpie Color List
I've been collecting Sharpies since 2013 and
founded & run the Facebook group Sharpie Addicts Worldwide.
Sharpie is one of the few brands that doesn't have a color name or number on the marker,
and on the packaging only about 50% of the time.
For those of you here looking to identify your Sharpie colors, rest assured I have scoured
archived versions of the Sharpie website as well as images from across the web to identify all the colors.
The typical Sharpie marker is Fine Point (FP). Other tip types exist, including Ultra Fine Point (UFP), Brush, Chisel, and Extra Fine Point.
Only the Fine Point and Ultra Fine Point come in nearly every color that Sharpie has been made.
CORE colors are those colors that are currently in production
SPECIALTY colors are those whose ink formulations are generally different than Core colors
64 Core Colors
25 Discontinued Colors
12 Portrait Colors (Core, FP only)
6 Metallic Colors (Specialty, FP only)
5 Neon Colors (Specialty, FP only)
9 Mystery Colors
(2 are in production FP/UFP as part of the Glam Pop sets, the other 7 are only available in FP)
Fine Point Colors: 121
Ultra Fine Point Colors: 91
In Oct 2023, the Glam Pop set launched. The largest set is 34 colors, 32 of which are existing Core colors.
Two of the three colors from the initial Mystery Colors (2021) round out the set - Dusty Pink (now Dusty Rose) and Vibrant Purple (now Bright Purple).
The other 7 colors are only available in the holiday exclusive boxes from Walmart (and resellers after the holiday season).
Portrait Colors are Core, though it's been said they will not be made in UF.
I'm treating the 7 Mystery Colors as a Specialty product, though I hope they all eventually become Core.
Core Colors (103)
~Discontinued colors are italicized
~If a color has two (or more) caps pictured,
that color has been "re-capped."
Old cap color is on left, new/current color is on right.
~Ink colors occasionally change;
the most common color is listed first,
followed by variations.
~"New" caps or "new" markers refer to markers
made after 2014-2015, when production was moved
outside the US, and the cap mold changed a bit.
"Old" cap/marker refers to markers made before 2014.
Many of the ink variations I find line up with the production change.
*** Some colors are displaying the wrong swatches. They are correct in my design program,
and correct when I view the site on my phone. It's just when I view the site on my PC that this happens.
If anyone knows how to fix it, please let me know!***

Classic Brown
In the early release days of the Portrait Colors set (Oct 2022), Newell said that Classic Brown was the same as Brown. However, multiple people have verified that Classic Brown is different in ink and sometimes in cap color from Brown. Compared to the Brown in the 2022 Core box, the caps are the same in color. They are darker than older Browns though.

Galaxy Green
Nearly identical to Argyle Green, but brighter in tone. Galaxy (ink) in the 2022 Core box is considerably darker than earlier ones.
Geode Green
Green
Green doesn't follow any pattern of production.
New markers are all over the place, with both colors found. Old markers tend to be the middle color.
The third green is from a promo/prototype marker that isn't widely available (pictured below).
Hibiscus Tea
This didn't photograph well; it's a purple with lots of gray to it.
Intergalactic Indigo
Jasper Green
Jellie Pink/Pink Ribbon 2
Current Pink Ribbon markers have the same cap & ink color as Jellie Pink. The earliest Pink Ribbon markers had Pink ink & cap
In the 2022 Core 65 ct box, Jellie Pink cap color appears to have been updated

Jetset Jade

Kiwi
Kiwi was one of 6 discontinued colors that were briefly revived in the 2015 lion box. Original Kiwi will have an old cap. Re-issued Kiwi will have a new cap. Most of the re-issued inks were slightly darker than their originals. Though the scan doesn't show it well, the reissued Kiwi (bottom) is a hair darker than the original (top).
Lavender Mica
Leg Warmer Orange
The original cap is nearly indistinguishable from Tangerine. It looks like it's been updated in 2022 Core box (old on left, new on right)

Light Blue Topaz
Lilac
Lime
Lime is a nightmare.
1 - old cap Lime
2 - new cap Lime
3 - old cap variant
4 - old cap variant
5 - old cap variant
The first ink is prevalent in markers with the old cap, while the current ink, #2, seems to be stable. The older ink has several variations.

Lime Daiquiri

Ocean Blue
1 - cap color accurate
ink
2 - a green variation that is more common than the blue (I call it Ocean Green)
Olive
Olive was discontinued before 2014, so I am unable to link the cause of variations to the production changes that occured then.
Generally, Olive 1 is the more commonly found ink, while Olive 2 matches the cap best.
While it may not show well in the swatch scans, I promise 1 & 3 are different
Optic Orange
Orange
Orange doesn't scan well. it is very red, but not quite as red as the scan shows. Doesn't match cap well.
Orion Orange
Peach
Peacock Blue
Peacock was first issued in the inaugural "spinner" box (Nov 2020) that was exclusive to Walmart. The barrel is marked with a graphic band, as well as "limited edition" verbage.
Peacock is also part of the Mystic Gems set that was released Feb 2021. The ink changed from one set to the other.
Peanut Brittle
Pink/Pink Ribbon 1
Pink was the original color when Pink Ribbon embossed markers were released in 2008. Several years later, the Pink Ribbon color was changed from Pink to Jellie Pink.

Purple
Purple, my other nightmare.
1 - oldest markers
2 - newer pre-2015 caps
3 - current color
4 - you would think this was a rare, accidental run, right? The magenta-ish color is found in Fine, Ultra Fine, Twin, and Chisel tips! It is also different from Magenta!
Purple Fluorite
Racey Red
Rain Shower
Rain Shower and Surf are nearly identical in cap color.
Many Rain Showers are dead/dry right out of the packaging. So far, this is the only color I know of out of the Wildflowers set that was available in open stock.
Red
Red variations are not found often. The original 8 Sanford colors don't seem to suffer from variations like the Newell colors, but it does happen.
Rocket Fuel Red
Rose
Rose Quartz
Salted Caramel
Sky Blue (or just Sky)
1 - new cap ink
2 - old cap ink
Sky 2 looks grayish in the swatch scan, but it's more of a periwinkle
Slate Grey
Original Slate was a muddy gray-brown.
The ink has been updated to be a true gray. On occasion a third variation pops up
1 - current
2 - current
3 - original
The old dark cap was reused for Dark Matter Gray
Solar Flare Red
This marker swatches the color of it's cap, but dries to the color seen in the swatch.
Spruce Green
Stingray
a purple-toned gray
Supersonic Yellow
Surf
1 - original Caribbean Colors Surf
2 - current Surf
Tangerine
Tanzanite
Teal
Teal and Turquoise have the exact same cap. It seems Newell attempted to rename Turquoise to Teal. Teal appears on 3 sets from 2015 - US lion box, 24/25/34 Electropop multipacks, and a box set in the Australia market.
Different in ink color from Turquoise, though other collectors will fight to the death to say it's not!
Teal Tiger's Eye (TTE)
Techno Blue
Toasted Gingerbread
Turquoise
1 - new cap
2 - old cap
you may find even lighter variations. These are pre-2014s which have the fade issue in blue-green inks
Ultra Violet
Re-capped late 2021, as the Ultra Violet in the 2021 & 2022 Core boxes have a different color cap from the original. Ink color is the same.
Valley Girl Violet (VGV)
Hard to distinguish from the older Purple caps. It is a bit more blue in tone, whereas the old Purple caps are more of a 50/50 purple.
1 - current VGV
2 - old cap VGV
Venus Green
Another case of new colors shouldn't have variations.
1 - matches cap
2 - more of a bright limeade color
Vibrant Purple
Violet
The more prevalent occurence of this color is the pinkish swatch pictured. The version that matches the cap is hard to find (harder, considering none of this set is easy to find). It's the only variation i'm missing!
(knock on wood)
At bottom is the only swatch I've seen of the purple Violet, which was an UF
(image from Caroline)

Violet Chalcedony
Yellow

It is sometimes still difficult to tell caps apart from one another without having something to compare it against.
Here are current, in-production markers grouped by color.
Markers come from the 2022 Core box, Portrait Colors, and Glam Pop sets, except Brown.
I used an older marker to show the difference from Classic Brown

Mystery Holly Red (2022)
A muted dark red, reminiscent of burgundy, but not as dark. it's also not quite as dark as pomegranate, but not as bright as brick red
Mystery Indigo Night (2022)
In between Blue and Intergalactic Indigo
unless you have great color discernment, it's actually hard to tell Blue from Indigo Night and Indigo Night from Intergalactic Indigo. it's a great 50/50 split of Blue and Intergalactic Indigo
Mystery Mistletoe Green (2022)
I was voting for Dried Seaweed, but I guess Mistletoe is close! :)
This is so much darker than Olive and Green that it creates havoc putting it into a chromatic chart. for now, i've put it preceding Black.

Mystery 7 (2023)
Awaiting color names, but it isn't all that different from Peanut Brittle - just a tad more yellow
